I dont have too much to blog about, really. Lemme think.. I fell up the stairs in front of the cutest electrician the other day, it was pretty horrifying. Who the heck falls UP the stairs? Killed my leg. Wanted to cry, instead played it cool and cried in private. Have a nice black and blue to show for it.

Hmm.. what else? IRON & WINE is playing in november. Must see him - SAMUEL BEAM. Gosh- I love. I actually have been a fan for a while. I love his retro sound. SOUTHERN ANTHEM off THE CREEK DRANK THE CRADLE is amaze! So mellow and pretty. He also covered THE POSTAL SERVICEs SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS. Pure deliciousness. Love the banjo, mandolin, uke sound. OBVS. If you like THE DECEMBERISTS, SUFJAN STEVENS or ELLIOTT SMITH, this will be perfect for ya. THE SHEPHERDS DOG is his most recent album. BOY WITH A COIN is a great track. Check that out too. Or dont. I havent really watched tv in ages but yesterday was one of those days where tv was the only option.

Early in the afternoon ice cubes started falling from the heavens. Not a little bit of hail- We are talking ice cubes to make drinks with. 300 drinks at least. I have NEVER seen anything like it before in my life. HUGE ice balls. SO NUTS!!

The rest of the day was filled with recapping moments from the weekend and just mellow hanging out with the usuals.

Then at 4 oclock I decided to get under the covers in my moms room and watch my most favorite movie of all time with her.
ALMOST FAMOUS. We bonded like whoa. It was the cutest thing ever. Every time I watch that movie, I love it even more. My mom said at one point, that this movie always puts a smile on her face every time. The soundtrack is so killer and my mom was in all her glory- informing me- or so she thought she was- that ERIC CLAPTON was originally in the band CREAM.. I KNOW MOM!! She was so cute. My mom is definitely a closeted music lover extraordinaire and it ALL came out during the movie. She started telling me that TINY DANCER was about ELTON JOHNS songwriters wife which I didnt know. Go figure.. Seriously the best movie. I wish I grew up back then. The eighties/nineties sucked.

Back to the TV part. I watched a documentary on HBO about HEIDI FLEISS and her new STUD FARM that shes "opening" in vegas. Basically a brothel for women to go to, to be with STUDS. The woman is a sight to see. It was painful to watch. She is a certified train wreck. Drugs wreck your life and I felt sick for her. Her body was sickly thin and her face operated in slow motion. The woman was a hustler at age 10 running a baby sitting ring in her neighborhood. She was basically pimping her friends and taking cuts from their baby sitting jobs. Shes obviously a genius with crazy business skills. Too bad she got busted- because it all went downhill from there. She served something like 90 days in solitary confinement- if you dont go completely insane from that_ I dont know what would make you lose it. Then she served 4 yrs in "lesbian hell" I think is what she called it. Anyway, so sad.

J says that im not a music fan because I dont follow BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN wherever he plays. I disagree. He has a great voice and I like a lot of his tunes but im not a groupie. Sorry J.

In other news THE FAINT is coming out with their new album soon. Soon meaning August 5th!! Its called FASCIINATION. They self recorded, wrote and produced it. Ive heard a couple of the tracks. They deliver exactly what you expect. THE GEEKS WERE RIGHT is good. I like that they sound a little slower in pace. Their songs are usually rushed- bordering on heart attack mode, so this was a nice change. Ive always been a fan. Seeing them live is a treat. They are one of the few bands that really give you a SHOW. Their stage presence is huge complete with crazy moves and a light show like youve never seen before. Their lyrics are always bizarre which is cool.

SAD DAY...

So Im so bummed. Brian Jonestown Massacre is playing in Brooklyn tonight and Im missing it. ANTON NEWCOMBE rules. Hes one of the funniest people I have ever met with the memory of an elephant.. Ask me one day about it in person..

It wouldve been great to see him. He always puts on a "show" that leaves people talking for weeks after. I remember going to see DIG on my birthday years ago and becoming obsessed with the band. They were my first true psychedelic experience- after listening to his music- I fell in love with that genre of tunes.

The man is a genius and can play something like 60 different instruments. Im always impressed by people who can do that. His new album is hysterical- title wise- MY BLOODY UNDERGROUND- One of the tracks is called WHO F&*$ING PISSED IN MY WELL.. Hahha. Anyway Im a huge fan- and have kept them an unspoken secret for a while, due to the fact that not everyone can appreciate them and Im not willing to hear it.

My favorite track of his is an old one called OPEN HEART SURGERY, pure fuzziness. SOOOO good. INTENSE for sure. I can go on forever recommending tracks.... JENNIFER, 13, SEER, WHO, IF LOVE IS THE DRUG THEN I WANT IT...

SOMETIMES I pace like a madwoman while im on the phone.

By the way- EL got me back into BON IVER. We played this song over and over in the car the other day. Id tell you what the other song we rotated it with was- but- it would totally ruin my street cred. Ill think about it though.

So the album is to FOR EMMA, FOREVER AGO.. The song is SKINNY LOVE. With a title like that- you know you need to just give it a quick listen.. The vibe is a sentimental one throughout the album. He definitely gives off a BONNIE PRINCE BILLY influence. Anyone who knows me knows that FOLK is my true love. I picture this dude strumming by a bonfire with a ton of people and me swooning.. hahaaha.. anything heavy on the guitar strumming makes me melt. His real name is JUSTIN VERNON and his voice is amaze.

Last night I was scared out of my brain from the sudden crash of lightening outside while I was in a coma. I dont remember the last time I felt so freaked out from a storm but the noise was sooo loud. I felt like I was seven years old clinging to my covers and grabbing my pillow. Its actually funny now that I think about it. Its just thunder and lightening. JEEZ.

MATES of STATE. The song - NOW. OBSESSED with it. Cant stop listening to it. Love the words- simple and easy. Love the chorus- MATES OF STATE is an overall amazing band. Husband and wife duo. Seriously, how adorable is that? You should buy it just for that reason! Buy the whole album. Its called RE-ARRANGE US. I promise you wont be sorry. Her voice is so great and I love when they sing together. Theyre a great duo. Harmonies are amazing and upbeat. This album will appeal to everyone because of its Pop-ish vibe. If you like THE SHOUT OUT LOUDS.. Youll like them- promise!

My neck is killing me again. Im getting old. I think I just need to not turn it to the left ever again and ill be fine. So stick to my right side when I see you. Deal?

So, I just read that BEN FOLDS is releasing a new album!! I love him. ANNNDDDD REGINA SPEKTOR sings a track with him on the album. I know.. So rad!! Its called WAY TOO NORMAL. I shall wait patiently..

Ive been having some severe incidences of 6 degrees of KEVIN BACON. Its always so mind blowing playing connect the dots..

I cant remember if Ive blogged about BEN KWELLERS- IN OTHER WORDS. I love this song. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I never get sick of it.

M told me that I need to listen to the new BECk. Just bought it and have been loving it so far. I also realized that I have every single track of his. Strange because I wouldnt consider him one of my favorite artists, hes up there but- I dunno. I thought it was funny. Anywhoo, the album is called MODERN GUILT. Has a nice psychedelic vibe to it. Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things fuzzy. CHEMTRAILS is my favorite track so far. Thanks M.

1. Im too lazy to take my make up off right now. Brushed my teeth, washed my face.. the whole nine, but my mascara is still perfectly intact. I wish someone would carry me to the bathroom and rub the soapy remover in my eyes for me.

2. Little sisters choice in tunes is killing me. I dont really do hip hop- nor do I do cute boyfriend talk, so yeah, she needs to leave the room.

3. THIS JUST IN... BOB DYLAN, yes, you heard right, BOB DYLAN is playing at the convention hall on AUGUST 14THHHHH!!! IM SO FREAKING EXCITED, I CANT SEE STRAIGHT!!!!

4. My brother is officially obsessed with MGMT- he mustve made me play KIDS 40 times in a row last night while we were hanging in the backyard. SCORE!!! Love when the unexpected ones like my tunes.

5. I cant possibly get one more mosquito bite without collapsing from MALARIA. Its not normal how these little buggers love my skin. Im starting to look like one of those kids in africa on the Sally Struthers commercials where the bugs swarm around them. Oooh, that was cheeky.

6. Im going to kill A because I cant stop saying- "hey little baby" to EVERYONE. Its becoming a problem.

7. Save your ten dollars and dont go see MAMMA MIA. Walked out after 10 minutes. Soooo bad. Buy a KHIELS chap stick instead.. Tell them LARGE MARGE sent ya... hahahah, 20 dollars to whoever identifies that line first!!

THREE FIE FOE FUM....

Today was one of the hottest days yet. Went for lunch with G- it was a long overdue session. Too bad her car got wrecked ten minutes later while we were driving home. We were just standing innocently at a stop sign and boom! Three car collision- thank g everyone was okay and no one was seriously injured. Bummer that I didnt get to finish telling her my story. Sitting and answering questions to cops and ambulances is unsexy when youre in a silk dress that doesnt breathe. Hi, is we were sweating our asses off there?

I like to to make lists in series of threes. My new favorite hobby is asking people to describe each other in 3 adjectives. Its a fun game to play if people are honest and open. Its interesting to hear what people come up with. Try it- but WARNING- not for the faintest of hearts. Sometimes you dont necessarily agree with what you hear. Its fun though and a great conversation to build on.

These past few days have been jarring for me. I cant remember the last time I felt such a range of emotions running thru me all at once like they have been this week. Its okay though- I welcome such feelings and know that I need to feel in order to grow. So here I am, typing this deep cryptic post.

Relieved, Loved, Sadness, Closure, Reborn, Reflective, Acceptance, Lighter, Clarity, Foggy, Apprehension, Change, Freed, Deserving, Embraced.

This weekend was a long and fun one for sure. Im glad that the week has started though. I needed to hit the reset button.

My niece is her usual delicious self. Im convinced that she loves me the best.

How is THE PRICE IS RIGHT still on TV? That annoying fat guy is the host now. Why cant we ever let things just end. Is this show going to be around forever? Its such an annoying show. The girls presenting the crappy prizes are creepy too. Wow- I sound hostile, huh? Whatever- im not a fan.

I always love it when people tell me that they enjoy my blog. Glad you're reading it J- Holler!! You guys were so cute filling up on gas yesterday..

I have come to the realization that I enjoyed being driven around. I used to only like to drive. I was convinced that I was the best driver around. Sitting in someones car while they navigated, knowing that I could get there faster etc.. made me break out in a sweat. However, now that I have surrendered, its been amazing. I just plop my ass down in the car and in minutes im where I want to be. Its a huge deal. So.. if you wanna hang out- youre going to have to pick me up.. K? thanks.

In other news, I suffered a crazy coughing fit while I was in a store today. It was totally embarrassing. Something in the air gagged me to death. Finally got a hold of myself a good 3 minutes later. Had to go outside and all - while S was in the store. Hi, is torture there?

WHIPLASHED

Today, I decided to stay home and be mellow due to my healing neck. Dr. says it was whip lash. How I got it- I will never know.
This gave me the opportunity to closely observe my parents and the way they carry on as a couple at home when no one is around.
My dad loves my mom and literally worships her. My mom loves him tons but he's definitely the one who outwardly loves her more. They were putting this outdoor cooler together- strike that- he was supervising her.
My mom basically walks around cleaning and organizing things. My dad walks around the backyard in awe of it. He has this look on his face like he's the luckiest man alive. He occasionally puts the hose in the pool and checks the temp.
When he gets hot enough- he at 57 - dives off of the diving board, and swims across the pool-His string bean body barely making a splash. "Wow" I think to myself, my dad rules. He's cool as shit. He gets out of the pool and plops down on the lounge next to me. He says he wants to see me dive bec he doesn't believe I can. I remind him that 12 yrs of day camp in the summers taught me the skill. A moment of silence lapses then he tells me that my music stinks. "Got any beatles" sure, I say.
Suddenly he nudges me and says "Look at your mother" where? I say...
He points to the outdoor ping pong table. My mom is windexing the table.
"That's your prize daddy" I say. He nods "yep" and stares at her as she covers the table with a tarp- mind you, its 90 degrees and sunny outside with not a cloud in sight.

Lets talk about the new ALBERT HAMMOND JR. shall we?

COME TE LLAMA is the name of the album. Grammatically its supposed to be como te llamas in espanol, but I dunno, maybe its the cool thing to do and say things the wrong way. So... hes been getting some crappy reviews for this one. Im reading a lot of stuff accusing him of trying to be the STROKES without them and desperately failing at the task. I havent paid much mind to it though.

I should listen to the album a bit more. I like the track BARGAIN OF A CENTURY. There is definitely that strokes beat to it with Hammonds famous guitar riff sound. BORROWED TIME has a reggae ish vibe to it which is pretty cool. Its a good "hang by the house" album to play all the way through. If youre a STROKES fan youll enjoy it. Just try not to accuse him of ripping them off every five minutes, because hes pretty much the lead of that band if you ask me. So yeah- check it out. Its worth a listen.

Sometimes my blackberry annoys the hell out of me...
Sometimes people take advantage of your kindness and you have no choice but to learn to be more protective next time around...

Sometimes I cant sleep for more than an hour without tossing and turning praying for it to finally be morning..
Sometimes mid deep sleep I think to myself- wow this is the best sleep ever and I mentally tell myself how lucky I am to be sleeping so well.. how freaking strange is that?

STUCK

Holy f$&&$@#&$) you know what. My neck is so messed up, I can hardly move.
I dont know how this happened to me- but when I woke up this morning, I couldnt turn my neck left or right.
My mom sent me to Dr. Jeff to fix it. Dr. Joe came in the room and put some zappy pads on my neck with some heated mountain of towel. He came back after ten minutes massaged it a bit and told me that my xrays showed muscles spasms happening that are leaning on my nerves causing the agony. He basically gave me RX aleve and muscle relaxers, yawn ... and told me to come back in the morning for more electro shock. Thrilling I know.

K - my neck is killingggg me and i look super mean bec I am soooo stiff. Lets hang out. (in bed)

CUT OFF....

I Havent had internet for one whole week since Ive made the exodus to Jers. I am dyingggg. My blackberry just doesnt cut it. I tried setting up mobile blogging- to no avail. Im now outside on the porch in a very specific spot of the house crouching over at a 45 degree in order to maintain 2 bars of reception. If only you could see me now. Its a sight to see, for sure. Whats up with everyone password protecting their internet. Helllooo? Hasnt anyone heard of pay it forward??!! Jeezzz.

Anyway here is the post that I tried to send mobily (is that even a word?) but it wouldnt work--

Lately I find that I have a severe case of adhd. It becomes annoying because im thinking a million things at once and I feel this huge sense of restlessness clinging to me like saran wrap.

I guess its better than idle procrastination, right? So where was I again?? Hahahah. I finally made the inevitable exodus to the shore. I really shouldn’t knock it because its beautiful, relaxing and a nice change of pace which I can use.

S was telling me that I needed to read this book that she read about soul mates, assuring me that it wasn’t only about romantic relationships- I laughed at her because, I already know all about them. I am lucky enough to have met three- possibly four of them so far. I’m so grateful to have them in my life. The cool thing about coming across such people is the fact that you don’t even have to know them all that long to realize the bond you share with them.

On the music front- ive been loving this song called LOOK UP TO THE SKY by THE APPLETREES. Is it a coincidence that the song is all banjo and ukulele? I think not- obvs! The other thing is that the girl singing harmony sounds like my best friend N. Its eerie. I can swear its her. They have a very ethereal AZURE RAY-ish, JENNY LEWIS vibe to them with a folky zest. This is what I want my ‘band’ to sound like.
