HOT OFF THE PRESS OR WHATEVER..

I havent been writing about new music too much so I figured Id let you all know what ive been listening to lately.

THE KILLS. I love THE KILLS. Always have always will. Their music oozes with sexiness. Their new album is called MIDNIGHT BOOM and I really like it. If youve never heard of them, the band consists of one guy and one girl. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince. If youve seen Kate Moss around town lately with a new dude its him. She- is basically the coolest girl to grace the world of rock and roll in the last ten years along with a few others (Meg White, Karen O blah blah). Their sound is crunchy, aggressive and fiery. I became a huge fan when I heard their older album NO WOW. Its basically a BIG WOW. Listen to that album. My faves are NO WOW, LOVE IS A DESERTER and THE GOOD ONES.

El reminded me that we saw them 4 years ago by accident when we saw a friends band open for them at BOWERY BALLROOM. One thing I do know is that they have ridiculous onstage chemistry.

Buy the new album and just let it play all the way through. I dont understand how these two are not dating each other. But then again maybe thats the key to the sound of sexual tension you can cut with a knife when listening to them play together. If you need to get started with one before you take the plunge and buy the complete album, buy CHEAP AND CHEERFUL. Great track. Their sound can be compared to THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS, THE RAVEONETTES, THE WHITE STRIPES and CLINIC. But to me they are in a league of their own. Listen to the bass rips and pile on the black eyeliner.
